Pet care is the main clinical focus at Remarkable Vets.
Each staff member brings special skills to the clinic, complementing
each others interests and areas of experience.
Staff Interests
Geoff has attained post-graduate training and qualification (Royal
College, UK) in anaesthesia and is part way through a higher qualification
in internal medicine.
Nicki has special interest in emergency medicine and Tim is constantly
refining his already considerable surgical expertise.
We also have 2 fully qualified veterinary nurses in Liana and
Julie who are constantly improving our systems and keeping the
vets on their toes! Having 2 qualified nurses in such a small
team is virtually unheard of and we consider ourselves, and our
patients, very lucky to have them.
Dentistry
Dentistry is an area that Remarkable Vets has really focused on
in both training and provision of equipment. We run a dental incentive
scheme (DenPlan - PlaqueBusters) which makes ongoing dental care
and prevention more affordable and attractive. This is one of
our initiatives designed to promote preventive health care and
raise the bar of animal health in the region. After all, that's
what we're here for. Ask in-clinic for more details.
Hospital Care and Luxury Accommodation
We've upgraded our animal hospitalisation facilities with new,
reinforced fiberglass cages that are warm and inviting and we're
on the cusp of providing some luxury accommodation for a small
number of feline friends on holiday. Watch this space!!
Specialist Care
We are fortunate to have a great relationship with the only specialist
surgical centre in the South Island - VetSpecs in Christchurch.
We discuss cases with them regularly, send x-rays for opinion
and can liaise and organize patients to travel up for complicated,
specialist surgery. We have also been lucky enough to have Dr
Helen Milner come to our clinic and perform specialist surgery
on patients in the past and we look forward to that happening
again in the future.
