Queenstown's high profile vet Geoff Woodhouse, star of the popular
television series Remarkable Vets, has moved to a new clinic close
to Arrowtown, creating new standards in veterinary services in
the region.
Located on a 30 acre site on Malaghans Road close to Milbrook
Resort Remarkable Vet's new premises provides an appealing and
informal environment for both pets and their owners.
"We have created a landscaped area outside the clinic for
pets and owners to relax in before their consultation," says
Geoff. "In fact sometimes if it's more appropriate we will
do an initial consultation there because it is such a relaxing
atmosphere."
Remarkable Vets has recently expanded with Geoff and two other
vets now working the busy practice. Geoff, Tim Penlington and
Nicki Viggers are all highly qualified with proven experience
in the industry. Both Geoff and Nicki graduated from Massey University
with Bachelor of Veterinary Science degrees with distinction ,
while Geoff is one of just a handful of vets in New Zealand with
a post graduate qualification in anaesthesia.
The practice has a widespread, established network with other
respected animal health professionals and specialists throughout
New Zealand. It employs five nurses - Liana and Julie are qualified
veterinary nurses and the clinic is well supported by Fiona, Sonia
and Alicia in their roles.
The new premises boasts state-of-the-art technology which ensures
up to the minute treatment and care for Wakatipu pets and animals.
"Remarkable Vets had made a significant financial investment
in the new practice to raise the bar of vet services offered in
the area. Our new premises have been designed to allow for more
surgical and diagnostic treatment which broadens the scope of
our technical ability and expertise," says Geoff. "With
our up-to-date equipment, in a spacious surgical suite, we are
now able to offer veterinary services equal to anything in the
cities."
A focus of the new practice is to encourage and promote prevention
with an emphasis on dental care. A dental plan has been initiated
to assist in pet care.
An animal welfare educational programme is also being launched
which will be school based and provide visits to the Remarkables
Vet clinic. A 'petting zoo' is a unique feature of the practice
allowing young children to get close to a range of animals, including
llamas, alpacas, goats, dogs, cats, donkeys and rabbits.
"We want children in the area to visit the zoo and become
acquainted with the animals whether they have pets of their own
or not," says Geoff. "Some of the animals will be here
for respite after being sick or injured and we envisage the zoo
will be a continuously evolving project."
Geoff has paid tribute to his staff who have 'gone the extra
mile' to ensure a smooth transition from the old premises to the
new clinic. "They have been outstanding and we have also
had incredible support from clients who have physically helped
us make the shift to Malaghans Road."
Remarkable Vets' enhanced new clinic set in its stunning rural
environment offers an outstanding pet service to people in the
Wakatipu. Geoff and his staff are passionate about what they do,
which is highlighted in the homegrown Remarkable Vets television
series produced in Queenstown by Great Southern TV. The programme
will shortly be screened worldwide on the National Geographic
Channel ensuring even greater exposure for Remarkable Vets and
their distinctive and specialised pet service.
